People I Used to Work With

I used to work for a mortgage company that dealt with sub-prime loans prior to the real estate market “collapse”. Before you start blaming me for the disaster, I worked in the “Master Servicing” department, which is basically just accounting. and once in a while I’m the I.T. guy in the department, that’s all.  I had nothing to do with the collapse.

I do a google search for “Quick Loan Funding” once in a while just to see what comes up, today I got this:  http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/267/RipOff0267361.htm and as I was reading the comment, my jaw dropped lower and lower, my eyes got wider and wider. I knew I worked with some stupid people there. I’m not saying I don’t make mistakes when I blog (I know I make plenty of mistakes and have a lot of typos) , but when I read over what I wrote, I know what needs to be corrected. This writer obviously has no idea what the difference between “Their” and “There” is!

Here’s what s/he wrote:

Quickloanfunding again laid off 85% of there staff yesturday. The owner Daniel Sadek couldnt even meet with the employees to tell them that he was laying people off again. He made Mark Bishop tell everyone that there warehouse lines were cut to 30m and that they were going to make cuts. If we wanted to know if we were safe we could go into the HR director Judy’s office and ask.

As of this morning there phone lines are not working. Looks to me like they are doing the same thing that the owner did with his other company Globalcom Satilite. They were in bussines one day and the next they shut there doors turned off the phones and were gone with no notice to there customers at all.

I feel sorry for the home owners that have been working with quickloanfunding who have put out the $350-$500 for there appraisal that wont be reciveing a loan or their refund.

Why Some Relationships, Rings, Proposals, Wedding & Marriages Are a Waste

I’ve said many times that I would love to finally get married after being with my girlfriend for 12 years & 10 months. I don’t want us to be in our thirties saying the words “My girlfriend and I are…”. Over the past 4-5 years many of our friends and family have gotten married some had a child or two. I’m truly happy for MOST of them not because they ARE happy, but because some of them BELIEVE that they are happy. The main reason we’ve not tie the knot after all these years is because we wanted to financially build a foundation for our livelihoods before doing so. Money has been a big problem with me after my father passed away and left me to support my handicapped mother.

The reason I look down on some marriages is because some couples gets married and live in their friends/parents/grandparents homes. That’s even worst than renting an apartment in my view. I’m sure some of you will say that I’m “snooty” for thinking this way, but I blame this discrimination on the society we live in. I’ve seen people driving a beat up old Toyota Corolla with three baby seats (and plastic spinners on their wheels). I’ve had an employee ask me to get her a raise because her husband can’t (won’t) get a job. I’ve had friends that dropped out of college to get married and “start a family”. I have an uncle who lives in the basement of my grandmother’s house in Denver with his wife. He works part time as a phone operator for some infomercial company, his wife is a stay at home wife…They are planning to have a few kids…a few years back he ask if he would move into my house in LA. I said no because I know he probably won’t pay rent, sure I have two spare bedrooms, but I don’t help deadbeats, not even if we’re blood.

I know all these examples are just that… bad examples, but I feel like I’m seeing more and more or these type of relationships. Obviously there are MANY happy couples out there who live the “perfect” life where there is sufficient income, family value and love. Their children would be well supported financially and emotionally. But as I look at the younger generation around me (while I’m in my late 20’s) I’m starting to lose hope. They listen to junk they think is music, they watch reality TV shows that lack direction, whatever happened to shows that has a story, a show that taught young children lessons in life? These “kids” think visible body piercings and tattoos won’t ruin their job search and the only thing they know about a computer is how to go on social networks. I read over 400 resumes in the past two weeks trying to look for 2 new employees, interviewed about 20 of these people and maybe 3 of them will have a promising future in being human. The other 17 looked good one paper but definitely bent the truth just a little too much on the resume. The rest of the resumes are just a disgrace to the word.

I can rant on and on about this, but it’s starting to get too long.

Annoying Old Folk/s At Work

It was  a little before 4:00pm at work today, one of the employees that work near me announces loudly “I’m heading home”.  I  decided to stretch and headed over to the break room and said bye on the way. She proceeded to say in her 58 y/o motherly fashion “see, if you get in early you can leave early too!”….I started turning into the Hulk on the inside and was about to choke a bitch! WTF? Is this woman trying to say something here? What is she blind?!?!? I’ve been getting in at around 6am for the past year and did 12+ hours a day on salary! I’ve done insane hours at my last job. Hung around at the “office” prior to and after my shift if I don’t have class or anything to go to at the jobs before that. I’m almost always really early and leave late.

You may think I’m over reacting here, but I really HATE these “types”. You know what I’m talking about, maybe it’s you too. The co-worker that comes in and calculates the time they leave to the exact minute they leave and are not willing to stay a second over 8 hours, the ones that say “that’s not in my job description”. My work has quite a few of these folks. I mean really WTF? What is so exciting about you life that you have to get back to it? I’ve got plenty to do at home, lots of gaming to catch up on, over 500GB of stuff I need to burn onto DVDs and archive, my new kitchen and 3 bathrooms still needs to be sanded down and repainted. I’ve got boxes EVERYWHERE since we moved into the new house in OCTOBER! I still need to get two more beds, proper chairs instead of the cheap folding ones we use now, a dining table set. we can’t even invite people over because the house is not ready. Trust me your old fossil ass ain’t got nothing on my life.

Maybe I’m weird but I just don’t understand this kind of work ethics. At every single job I’ve ever had (That’s around 7 jobs since childhood) I’ve always dedicated my all to the company, I will do anything to help out. I’m there when you need me, call me and I’ll be there if I can. I will not stop unless it done! My mother says I work too hard but she doesn’t realize that I’m supporting her 100%, in her own 3 bedroom house while trying to have my own life without having to live with her. No one seems to understand that the harder and more I work, the less problems will arise the next day. Why do you think our clients can get a report from us within 10 minutes since I’ve started in this company when it used to take weeks? Yes I’m fast but that’s only by comparision. That douche you have doing this before was a total ‘tard, the only reason no one said anything is because he’s somewhat family (his wife is the best friend of the owners granddaughter).

Seriously people, I understand that I’m a total workaholic, I’m not asking you to be like me. But an extra few minutes is not going to kill you.

Oh! If you work with me and you are reading this. Stop complaining that one of my colleague comes in at 9am and leaves at 4pm. You don’t even know the reason he needs to leave, you don’t know how late he stays up coding at night. You can’t do what he does, you lack any formal education past your 1968 high school graduation! Even if he just sat at home watching TV, he does more than you do a day in 1 hour. With this company’s old fasion work ethics and lack in technology, you are no match to us. We can automate your job and send you to the unemployment line, so stop pissing us off or I will present this to the board of directors. Shut your trap ’til you get home! or rant on a blog like me, it helps with the anger.

Just Who Are We Bailing Out?

Companys are getting bailed out left and right. Here are some info on who Citi Group is helping out with their $700 Billion bailout…my old employer who has some SERIOUS character flaws. Personally I think he should be the last group of people to get this kind of “second chance”.

Google’s alert function informed me on a new news story about Daniel Sadek yesterday, apparently Citi Group has offered to modify the loan on one of his personal properties (65 Briar Lane Irvine, CA) in order to lower the monthly payments (which he has already defaulted on!).  Citi recently received $700 BILLION in government bailout and this is who they go help first? One of the head guys that started this whole sub-prime mess? I’m not saying that he doesn’t need help because he is in a lot of trouble these days, but there are people out there losing the only home they know and have, children and pets are being displaced into foster care and animal shelters because their parents have no means to care for them. Sadek has had plenty and still does.

I got curious and found out that Miguel Angel Vazquez (The one who stole $24,671.16 from QLF’s escrow company, Platinum Coast Escrow) WAS arrested and it looks like he had to pay restitution and served about 2 months in jail for it…What an idiot! What makes you think you can steal $24+ thousand dollars from your employer and not get caught…it’s one thing taking a candy bar from the company vending machine, this is a whole different catagory of stupid.

Christmas/Holiday Bonus

WooHoo! I got my bonus at work today and I’m planning to…I have no idea what yet, maybe get that sofa/couch/bed I wanted for the home office? Right now it looks like a bedroom with a twin bed, but I want it to be more “office-y” but still function as a guest bedroom.

Anyway, the reason I need to vent/rant today is that an older employee was complaining that her bonus was the same as last year. I really wanted to say something but held back because she’d never understand, after all, she didn’t know that you’re not suppose to call someone an “Oriental” until I told her last year!

I personally know a bunch of people who have been unemployed for over a year, had no bonus this year due to the decline of business, recently lost their jobs, lost all/majority of their 401K, and worst, lost their home in the recent California fires. I’m VERY thankful that I still have a place to go for 8-12 hours a day and get paid to do what I love to do. If your company is not giving out a bonus this year, just remember, it could’ve been worst.

A New Day…Is This Modern Evolution

For years I’ve believe evolution has slowed or possibly even stopped because of the change in the world. We’ve replace so many natural possibilities with technology, who knows, maybe if light bulbs were never invented we would be able to see in the dark or have echolocation like bats! We could’ve been GREAT (like the characters in the HEROES TV Show)! Now we are advanced but still just normal pieces of meat and bones.

I’m not saying who I voted for in the 2008 Presidential election, but I do feel that senator Barack Obama’s (President-Elect) victory is a new step for America not because of his political viewpoints or what he stands for, but strictly because of the color of his skin. I did not think he had a chance. I did not think the United State’s citizens were ready for a president who would’ve been a slave here 200 years ago. I thought racism would’ve won. For all those who proved me wrong. I thank you on behalf of the human race, this brought tears to my eyes, this moment in history is definitely a step in evolution for us as Americans.

Ok, now that we got the race thing taken care of, let me rant! I understand that you people love President-Elect Obama, but what’s with the celebration and cheering. I think a simple congratulations and thank you would be enough. I may not know too much politics, but seriously, the guy could say anything he wants to in his campaign and do something entirely different when he’s in office, he could say “5% decrease on sales taxes” and then come to realize that it is just not possible when he open the books. Lets cheer when he’s re-elected because he did a great job (in the next 4 years). He really hasn’t done anything for us yet.

Proposition 8 was a total bust, majority of the people at my work are Yes on Prop 8 supporters, they were so happy this morning. I voted NO to prop. 8. The proposition is clearly stated as “Eliminates Rights of Same Sex Couples to Marry”. What give us the ability to eliminate rights? Gay marriages doesn’t affect you or your children, it can’t make your kids gay. What are you people so afraid of? Their campaign says they don’t want their children to learn that same-sex marriages can occur. As if that will change anything! If you want to eliminate right, you should eliminate the rights to create stupid movies and shows like Glitter and The Hills. If anything is killing the minds of our future leaders, it’s the people in the entertainment industry. You want to be good to your children, then stop telling telling them fairy tales, there is no tooth fairy, there’s no Santa!

Prop 8 supporters,  you say you don’t hate gays, that you want to protect the sanctity of marriage. Do you know anything about this thing call lying, cheating, affairs, and divorces. You want to help the children? What about stupid people getting married and having children when they can’t even financially support themselves. Why do I know full grown adults that work at McDonald’s with a stay at home wife and 3 kids? You want to help the children, close down search engines. Do you know easy it is to find porn these days?

You are all hypocrites! There’s no sanctity or real commitment in a marriage as long as divorces are legal.

Dexter…Works At My Office?!?!

I have a co-worker who looks a lot like the main character from the showtime Dexter show (character named Dexter, played by Michael C. Hall) Today for Halloween he decorated his office, as well as himself as Dexter! All he needed was a dead body wrapped in plastic wrap.

I’m going to look into contacting the directors/producers/writers, I think they can put him into the show, maybe the last season. They find the real “Bay Harbor Butcher” but instead of arresting Dexter, they get my co-worker!

Is It Mean Of Me To Laugh At The Failure Of Others?

While backing up one of my computers in preparation for a new hard drive,  I  found an old spreadsheet with the MySpace URLs to some of the old Quick Loan Funding (my previous employer) employees. Is it mean of me to laugh just a little because they are no longer making the money they used to? I mean really, they were not the best people in the world. They flaunt their money in your face, talk and walk like they are better than you. Most of these people are community college dropouts at best! After looking through their MySpace profiles and comments to each other, I’ve gathered that some of them are still unemployed, working part-time as a waiter/waitress, at a gym, spa, 1 is even workinf as a cross guard! Reports indicate that unemployment is at a all time high, but I wonder if this is just the world realigning itself, many of the people who worked directly in the mortage industry during those good times should’ve never had a job anyway. It might be mean of me, but I feel that they are just back where they belong.

Inconsiderate People in the Office

I work in a company that is 90% “old people” They are mostly about 50 years old. So when I was brought on, I was the tall strong young guy that everyone needed for stuff like getting supplies off the top shelves, putting in a new Sparklette water bottle in the dispense when the other young guy is out. I’m also the guy that generously stock the second floor office with a box of paper or two each week without being asked because when I started here about a year ago, everyone walked downstairs to get a ream when they needed. I felt sorry for them, so I’d grab a box here and there on my way up to my office in the morning.

I came in extra early this morning because I didn’t commute with my girlfriend (no carpool lane). I walked in and saw the office cougar walking to her cubicle holding 5 of the 6 reams that were left. What the hell?!?!?! I got the paper for the entire upstairs staff not just her!

I guess I wouldn’t be as mad if she was actually a hard worker or even decent, but she doesn’t do her job, complains about it. She has no need for that much paper all at once (I just checked, she has like 12 reams stacked up under her desk), and leaving one ream is just plain rude! She spends most of her day chatting with people on eHarmony and Match.com…yeah I checked, what do you think Spector is for? Anyway, I’m probably going to let her boss know what she does all day if this happens again.

I may stop being nice and let them deal with it…I really need to stop being the “nice guy”

In whatever company you work for, get to know the CEO, the CFO, the HR department, the Payroll department and the people in the IT department…and most important of all, DON’T PISS THEM OFF!

Promotion…Or Not Really?

I recently got promoted at work…well, it’s not much of a promotion. I was actually up for another position which I was qualified for because of my educational and work background. However someone else who is MUCH less qualified was given the promotion due to various reasons (I’m not getting into the religious and race discrimination of this, let’s just say it exists!), even the person he’s replacing (retiring) called him a “young whipper snapper who has no idea what he’s doing”.

I’m at the theater right now and saw this poster…I didn’t have a chance to begin with… But at least I got promoted to his old job…I hesitate because after I learned what he did, I was wondering what took him so long to do it, and what else does he do for the remaining 7 hours of his day?!?! Corporate work is really disappointing when you have incompetent people making decisions.
