I guess someone has been waiting for this because they will be broadcasting live on 790AM. I’m not sure of the details yet, but check back on frostyheidiandfrank.com for more details on show time.

Frosty Heidi & Frank 97.1FM…Now a Daily 1HR Podcast

Posted by mikenopolis on August 11, 2009

Six months ago, one of my favorite talk radio station “KLSX 97.1FM” in Los Angeles ceased operation and the stations format changed from talk radio to yet another pop/hip-hop music station. (Old Post)

They were quiet for a little then they started a weekly podcast (FHFU – Frosty Heidi & Frank Uncensored). It was a drag only having them for 1 hour of a week, but it was better than nothing.

On August 3, 2009 they began a DAILY 1 hour podcast that is available for download from their site: http://www.frostyheidiandfrank.com/fhfu.asp as well as from iTunes’ subscription. Don’t forget to rate them in iTunes if you like it! I can’t wait ’til a station wises up and pick up their show…their CBS contract is up on September  25, 2009 so they will finally be free!!!

Protective Cases For Phones, Laptops, etc.

Posted by mikenopolis on August 9, 2009

I just has lunch with of my friends and one of our discussions was in regards to how scratched up his iPhone was and how both my gf’s iPhone (my 1st gen) and mine is in prestine condition.

I partly blame this on the Apple corporation. When you purchase an iPod, iPhone or even a laptop from them, they often ask if you would like to buy a case to protect your new toy. What they fail to tell the consumers is that they need to remove the case every few days or at least once a week to clean out the dirt, dust, lent, etc. Why? You ask? Because most, if not all cases are not a 100% dust proof, grime gets in through the edges and the button cut outs and often remain between your nice expensive toys and the case. Since the, lets say iPhone is not 100% fitted into the case (by 100% I mean a perfect fit where the phone does not have any “micro” movements) the Phone will rub against the little particles and the so called protective case. Over time this will create tiny scuffs on you phone!

My friend has had his phone for about a year now and it looks like crap. He has NEVER cleaned it out!

So my word of advise. Check the stuff that’s stuck inside your case and clean it out often!

Sorry for any typos. Typed this out on my iPhone.

London Trip Post…..Soon. Memorial Day coming around the corner

Posted by mikenopolis on May 18, 2009

It’s been over a week since I got back from my vacation in London, UK. I have a lot to say and rant about, but haven’t found the energy and time (at the same time). Work is kicking me in the behind because the company’s annual national trade show is coming up and all the departments are asking for new queries and reports left and right.

Anyway, I’ve always been wordy when writing. I wanted to remind anyone who reads this to remember Memorial day is coming up on Monday May 25th. The reason I say this is people at work got all excited because it’s a day off. It’s sad that no one seems to know what the day is for. Please take a moment to remember the people who served this country. And thank those who are serving. It’s called Memorial Day for a reason, there are already plenty of day you don’t have to work, it’s called the weekends!

DIY Cradle For The iPhone Or Other Gadgets

Posted by mikenopolis on March 9, 2009

I thought I would share this with the 12 friends who knows of this blog and other random people. I have used this cradle for about 5 years now. I “invented” it when I got one of the earlier portable media players (Archos AV320) because I’m anal about scratches on my gadgets so I never directly put them on a table. I now have one for my iPhone and Creative Zen W.

It takes about 1 minute to make, practically free. If it breaks just grab a paper and make another one! Hope you like it. Comment and let me know if you decide to make and use one. I’ve got a bunch of people in my office using it now…wonder if I can patent this.

Here it is. I hate recording my voice. I do not sound like this to myself, it reminds me of one episode of Family Guy when Lois Griffin said “OMG is that what I would like?…all nasally and…”

Rocky Mountain News…Closed Down

Posted by mikenopolis on March 3, 2009

I’m really hating the economic downfall. I’m sad and lost. I just found out that the Rocky Mountain Newspaper is no longer operating. Having spent most of my youth in Denver and being a paper boy in the snow, I grew up with the Denver Post and my Rocky and now one of them is closing its chapter. I’m not sure what we can do, it’s unbelievable knowing that there will be a day where we will no longer “read the paper”. We are at an age of instant gratification and I am one of the ones to blame. I read my news and blogs on an RSS feed. I say no when the local paper calls me for a subscription. I get and read books on my Sony eReader (PRS-500). I use my iPhone to check the weather, stock and traffic, I listen to my radio shows as commercial free podcasts, I watch TV without commercials with my DVR. What could we do? Should we “slow down” and pick up a paper, buy a book, listen to the radio and watch the news. Look at the ads and commercials and support these companies? I think of myself as a “technophile” but I can’t help but think that this is a step towards the wrong side….*Confused*

Here’s the “farewell” video from Rocky Mountain News:

To all those who’ve lost their jobs, careers, purpose in life because of people like me. I’m Sorry.

Frosty Heidi & Frank 97.1FM (in Los Angeles California)

Posted by mikenopolis on February 20, 2009

Today is a very sad day for me. The day after one of my favorite show’s (CNET’s The 404) Wikipedia page got deleted once again, another talk show (Frosty Heidi & Frank, AKA. FHF) I listen to is broadcasting their last show (Links to final show below) on KLSX 97.1 FM. The station is owned by CBS and the board of director decided to go a different route with the station by turning it into a Top 40’s music station. I don’t understand the thought process of the people in charge of making these decisions, but I seriously doubt that the audience of this talk radio show will be listening to the music radio station. They may as well have turned the station off and just have dead air. Ben Tao has posted a blog on the stupidity that is CBS here:

http://www.benjitao.com/2009/02/cbs-radio-is-stupid-dont-cancel-frosty-heidi-and-frank

FHF have had the highest rated mid-day show for the past 7 years but apparently with high ratings comes big bonuses. Due to the state of our current economy the station is no longer able to support their talk radio programs with the little sponsors and advertiser that are left.

Here’s their Farewell Video, as you can see they have a HUGE fan base:

What I’m really surprise at (once again) is the individual that brought this issue up and started the train rolling on ending the station. His name is Tom Brown. Brown is a fashion designer who happens to also be a member of the board who decided to cancel the talk radio station.

This is what he looks like, I’ve gotta say he’s not ugly…..but the man needs to learn how to dress (much like many of the celebrities and people in the fashion industry). Why are the people who makes these final decisions always the ones that look like they need the most help?

Pictures are from Zimeo

Didn’t see what the problem is? Here:

Do you want to know what he designed? “Two Man Pants” Doesn’t this look promising?

As I’m posting this, I’m listening to the last show and Frank Kramer has just announced that he’s starting his own radio show called “Blaze Radio” and will be available on www.FrankArmy.com. For now it will play some of their old shows. I’m not sure what the future will hold for these three hosts. They will make an announcement of “something they have been working on?”. I wish them the best and hope they will be on the radio again. (UPDATE 3/2/09: I didn’t hear too much old shows on Blaze Radio, there was a lot of downtime and music.  Upon reading Frank’s blog, it appears that he did not have a equipments or services necessary to stream the audio he wanted. It was mentioned the FHF was under contract with CBS until September 25, 2009 so there may be no update on their plans until then.  I’m still wishing and hoping)

Joe Rogan’s Open Letter To Kellogg’s (Michael Phelps Issue)

Posted by mikenopolis on February 18, 2009

I loved this letter. I’m not a user of any substances and have never been, I don’t smoke, I don’t drink, but I do value the United States supposed freedom on what we can do. I believe in kids being kids, and it that means using marijuana in the process so be it.

My concerns on drugs and alcohol has always been the abuse of it. There is a place and time for everything! If you are drink on the job, bad! Having a beer with your meal during lunch break, borderline okay. Smoking a joint while babysitting your neighbor’s kids, bad. Most awarded Olympian ever lived taking a hit with a bunch of friends, I’d say it’s fine.

Yes, Phelps is a role model for many children and yes the picture of him hitting a bong is not a good image. He should take responsibility for his actions, but I think firing him is a bit of an overkill.

http://blog.joerogan.net/archives/454

“Dear, Kellogg’s.

I’m writing this letter to express my disappointment in your company in firing Michael Phelps as a spokesperson for your products because he was photographed while enjoying some marijuana. I respectfully would like to communicate my opinion on this matter because I think it’s of great public interest. First of all, although it is true that Mr. Phelps broke the law, I think any reasonably intelligent person would admit that it’s one of the most fucked up and corrupt laws that we have today in this country. Marijuana is relatively harmless and certainly far less dangerous than a host of other things that are not only legal but also readily available, like alcohol and prescription clowns. The only reason it remains illegal to this day is because it’s a plant and you can’t patent it and control it’s sale, and because if it were legal it would greatly affect the demand for a host of prescription clowns that rake in billions of dollars each year for pharmaceutical companies. That’s it. Marijuana has never killed anyone EVER in over 10,000 years of use. We’re not protecting people from themselves, we’re not saving the children – it’s just a horribly illogical law that is in place because of corruption and propaganda. The fact that it’s against the law is just a disgusting reminder of how retarded our system is, not a reasonable reaction to a proven threat to society. I have to say, this whole thing saddens me, because I personally would like to think that as Americans we’re better than this. These television news anchors will shake their heads at the thoughtless mistake Mr. Phelps had made by “smoking dope,” and then without even the tiniest sense of irony they will cut to a beer commercial. This is supposed to be the land of the free and the home of the brave, right? We’re not supposed to be a nation of little bitches giving in to the whims of corrupt politicians and the pharmaceutical companies who’s interests they’re representing. It’s 2009, and in this day and age with the incredible access to information that we have available there’s no fucking way that we should be allowing human beings to tell other human beings that they can’t do something that they enjoy that hurts no one including themselves. THAT is madness. THAT is ignorant, and THAT is completely fucking un-American. I don’t want to hear any of that, “he’s setting a bad example with the children” nonsense either, because we all know if he had a gin and tonic in his hand instead of a bong this would never have been an issue, even though every single study ever done has shown that marijuana is FAR less dangerous than alcohol. Marijuana laws are a horrible waste of resources and law enforcement, and especially in this day and age with our economy in such horrible shape I believe the last thing we need to be doing is wasting tax payers’ money on any of this victimless bullshit. I find your reactions to Mr. Phelps situation both ignorant and short sighted. I think what would have been a far better response from Kellogg’s would be to support Mr. Phelps, and perhaps point out that maybe we as a society should take a closer look at the evidence and possibly reconsider our position on this misunderstood plant that so many of our productive citizens find useful. Now, I’m sure if you really were running Kellogg’s and you were still reading my bullshit all the way down to this, you must be thinking, “Why the hell would we stick our necks out like that for clowns smokers?” And of course the answer to that question would be, because we buy your shit, motherfucker. Do you guys even know your consumer statistics? Well, let me fill you in on some of my own personal scientific research on the subject, because I have been closely studying my own purchases for over 20 years, and I can tell you that I’ve been high 100% of the time I’ve bought your shit. I mean, do you guys ever think about what you sell? Pop tarts? Are you kidding me? I would be willing to bet that 50% of the people buying pop tarts are stoned out of their fucking minds. Just to be perfectly clear on my position, I would like you to know that I enjoy your products. I think many of them are quite tasty, but lets be honest; you guys sell sugar-drenched shit that’s horrible for your body – in fact, it’s actually way worse for your body than clowns – and you market this shit specifically to children. You assholes go as far as putting lovable cartoon characters on the boxes just so that kids will beg their parents for it. Now, I don’t want you to misunderstand my point, because I in no way want anything bad to happen to your company. Like I said, I genuinely enjoy your products. There’s nothing quite like being stoned out of your mind at 2am watching a Chuck Norris movie and eating a bowl of fruit loops. Your company and its products have been a part of some very pleasurable moments in guilty eating, and I’m glad you’re around. All I’m saying is that it’s high time (no pun intended) that you motherfuckers respect the stoner dollar. There’s WAY more of us than you might think, and we tend to get upset about dumb shit like this. There are millions of us, and if we decide that we don’t like a company, they’re going to feel it. I think if you looked into it carefully, you would be surprised at how many undercover potheads there are out there. clowns smokers don’t all fit into the obvious, negative stereotypes; we come in all shapes and forms – including by the way, the form of the greatest fucking swimmer who ever lived, EVER. Think about THAT shit for a second.. So in closing, I would like to ask you nice folks to please smarten the fuck up. I would request that you check the calendar and note that it’s 2000 and fucking 9, and next time you think about getting all uppity about clowns you might want to do a quick google search on the facts. It’s 4:40am here in LA, and I’m going to wrap up this blog and to celebrate its completion I’m going to enjoy one of my personal favorite Kellogg products: Eggo waffles. I’m gonna pop 4 of them bitches into the toaster, and then I’m gonna stuff the bong with some fine, American grown “Train Wreck” and sacrifice the sacred plant to the fire gods in tribute to the unjustly persecuted 8 time Olympian hero. Then I’m gonna get some butter, and I’m gonna smear it on those Eggos, I’m gonna cover them with maple syrup, and I’m going to eat the ever loving fuck out of them. Good day, sirs.

Yours truly,

Joe Rogan.”

25 Random Things About Me – Not That Anyone Cares

Posted by mikenopolis on February 7, 2009

I’m taking the “Everyone else is doing it, so why not?” route on this. I’ve made fun of people for doing it. But for shitz-n-giggles, I’m putting one here…Facebook is too public.

1.) I’ve held 4 jobs at the same time for 4 years of my life.

2.) I’m a pretty big guy but deathly afraid of most bugs, will literally run for my life.

3.) I fear having children because I’m afraid I will hate them (I cringe at the their cries).

4.) I can count the shots/glasses of alcohol I’ve ever had with one hand.

5.) I’m a clean/neat/timeliness freak (borderline OCD).

6.) I’ve washed my car/cars weekly (except raining) since  before I was driving my parents car.

7.) I got my first job at 12 and have been “jobless” for 2 months since then (knock on wood), I’m now 29.

8.) I have a fascination with guns, knives and weapons in general.I haven’t gotten a gun because I may just be that idiot,  I have anger problems and that’s not safe.  I’m very safe and DO abide by the rules 100% at the range.

9.) My closet is very neat, t-shirts are folded into approximately 12×12 squares, work clothes are hung (hanged?) 1 finger width apart.

10.) I’ve used (and resold) over 80 cellphones (that I can remember) in the past 9 years, but have stop swapping since the release of the 1st generation iPhone, Apple helped with my addiction.

11.) I have very strong morals, I will go far out of my way to help someone who’s nice or innocent. But I also take revenge very seriously (see “anger problem” #8).

12.) Because of my growing up in Denver, Colorado. I have a high tolerance for cold weather, sadly I still hate California because I get hot so easily.

13.) I owe my hometown’s public library $5…they claimed I ripped out some pages in a 40 year old book I borrowed. We had a “hearing” of sorts, they demanded that I pay the fine. I refused and have never gone back, thank you Internet!

14.) I didn’t go to a dentist is 13 years (until I was 22). Apparently I have very good dental genes. No cavities, perfectly aligned teeth, never had braces. now I have to get my wisdom teeth pulled out because they are starting to  pushing my 2 front bottom teeth inwards….I’m in fear…another 13 years? no just put me under.

15.)Women love their shoes and purses. I have an addiction towards messenger bags, sling  bags, attaché cases and laptop bags.

How anyone put 25 of these is beyond me. I’m tired and I highly doubt you cared. Sorry for be wordy, I guess that can be #16.)I’m very detailed, I don’t like being vague, or people who are.)

“Happy New Year” WoopDeeFreakenDoo

Posted by mikenopolis on January 1, 2009

Because everyone says this every 12 months, I guess I’ll say “Happy New Year”. I’ve never been much of a celebration type of person, the last time I really celebrated my birthday was when I was 2. I graduated, woohoo, I got a job, yay. Bought another house, woohoo again. I’ve hated the existence of life for as long as I can remember, the only reason I do the things I do is to make it less painful. If I didn’t have the few people that depends on me financially and emotionally, I would seriously look into “the easy way out”. To me, life is not short, it is the longest, most painful thing I will have to endure. I do not feel happy about another year (or many years) of possibly losing my job due to the financial disaster that we call world. I do not appreciate paying more taxes because I got a promotion and a pay raise. I do not look forward to probably getting some sort of Cancer and dying a slow painful death like my father (never smoked or drank).

So to the rest of you, sure I’ll say “Happy New Year” but just think about all the negative things that are happening around us. Just because we change our calendars and have a new president, doesn’t mean we will be saved. I will not look into this new year with any hope of positive change because we have a long way to go. If you are one of those people with the “new year’s resolution” why did you wait until now to make a change? There’s no annual renewal, if you want to improve yourself, just do it, don’t wait.
